Marking Attendance

We know that life gets in the way and there may be an occasional class that students will not be able to attend. Read on to better understand our cancellation policy.

CORE Languages offers a 24-hour cancellation policy to all clients and students. Our policy is as follows:

*Classes must already be listed on a client’s/student’s calendar 24 hours or more before the class start time. Classes are added by your teacher, CORE Languages Admin or even when clients request a booking. Student attendance is to be marked as attended, cancelled, or missed.

We ask students enrolled in a private or group course, to let their teacher know if they will not be attending by clicking the cancel booking button on the class they wish to cancel or emailing their instructor.

How Instructors should mark Attendance:

1. For Private Classes of one student and one teacher.

CORE Languages Marking Attendance
  • To mark a student as attended in a private class, simply click the “Attended” button. This class will be deducted from the student’s budget as it was attended.
  • The next two options are used when no class takes place. If the student gives more than 24 hour notice that they will not be able to attend a class, then the class will be marked as “cancelled” to show that the student canceled 24 hours or more before the scheduled class. This class is not deducted from the student’s budget or charged as adequate notice was provided.
  • If a student “no shows” or cancels a class with less than 24 hours notice, then the class is marked as “Cancel but still Charge” to show that the student canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled class. This class will be billed as sufficient notice was not provided. Your teacher will be compensated for their availability during this class time. Teachers are not required to wait for the entire course duration. If you plan to attend only the latter part of your class, please let your teacher know that you will be late.

2. For Group Classes of 2 or more students and one teacher.

CORE Languages Marking Attendance
  • The class is marked as “complete” to show that the student attended. This class will be deducted from the student’s course budget as it was attended.
  • The class is marked as “cancelled” to show that the student canceled 24 hours or more before the scheduled class. This class is still billed and deducted from the student’s budget if the class session took place with other students attending. (Make sure to watch the recorded session so that you do not fall behind). If all students early cancel, the class will not be billed or deducted.
  • The class is marked as “missed” to show that the student canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled class. This class is still billed and deducted from the student’s budget if the class session took place with other students attending. (Make sure to watch the recorded session so that you do not fall behind).
  • Attention! In a group session, we keep track of attendance for the class as a whole. For select clients if the class takes place even for one student, the class will be marked as “complete” for all students. We offer this because all classes are recorded and students who attend, cancel or miss will be notified of the session recording, which they can (re)watch at a more convenient time.
