How tun conjugates

Present: ich tue, du tust, er tut, wir tun, ihr tut, sie tun. Note that the wir and sie forms are simply tun, without the usual -en. The Präteritum is tat (tat, tatest or tatst, tat, taten, tatet, taten) and the Konjunktiv II täte. The Perfekt uses haben: ich habe getan. In everyday speech, machen is more common for "to do", but tun is preferred in fixed phrases and in slightly more formal or emotional sentences: Was kann ich für Sie tun?
