How to use hacer in the future

The future of hacer uses the shortened stem har-: haré, harás, hará, haremos, harán. Use it for promises and plans ("Lo haré mañana") and for forecasts: "Mañana hará frío." It also expresses guesses about the present: "¿Qué hora será?" pairs naturally with "¿Qué hará a estas horas?" (What could he be doing at this hour?). Watch out for the incorrect form "haceré," a common learner slip.

Examples

  • Lo haré en cuanto termine la reunión.

I'll do it as soon as the meeting ends.

  • Según el pronóstico, mañana hará mucho viento.

According to the forecast, it will be very windy tomorrow.

  • Haremos una prueba piloto en dos sucursales.

We'll run a pilot test in two branches.
