How to use hacer in the conditional

The conditional of hacer is haría, harías, haría, haríamos, harían. It is very useful for advice ("¿Qué harías tú?"), polite requests ("¿Me harías un favor?") and hypotheticals. "Yo no haría eso" is a natural way to warn someone. The stem is the same har- as the future, so if you know haré, you already know haría. Remember the accent on the í in every person.

Examples

  • ¿Qué harías en mi lugar?

What would you do in my place?

  • ¿Me harías un favor y revisas este correo?

Would you do me a favor and look over this email?

  • Yo no haría cambios antes de la auditoría.
