How to use querer in the conditional

The conditional of querer is querría, querrías, querría, querríamos, querrían, with a double r. It is a polite way to say what you would like, though in Latin America "quisiera" is used even more often for that purpose. "¿Querrías...?" is a soft invitation: "¿Querrías venir con nosotros?" In hypotheticals, it pairs with the past subjunctive: "Si pudiera, querría vivir cerca del mar." Keep the double r in every form.

Examples

  • Querría hablar con el gerente, por favor.

I'd like to speak with the manager, please.

  • ¿Querrías revisar la propuesta conmigo?

Would you like to go over the proposal with me?

  • Nadie querría trabajar en esas condiciones.

Nobody would want to work in those conditions.
