How to use poner in the conditional

The conditional of poner uses the same stem as the future: pondría, pondrías, pondría, pondríamos, pondrían. Use it for advice ("Yo pondría más ejemplos"), hypotheticals and polite requests: "¿Me pondría en contacto con el gerente?" It is common when reviewing someone's work and suggesting changes gently. Like the future, it never uses the form "ponería." It also reports earlier plans: "Dijo que pondría la mesa."
