How to use llegar in the conditional

The conditional of llegar is regular: llegaría, llegarías, llegaría, llegaríamos, llegarían. Use it for hypotheticals ("Si saliera ahora, llegaría a tiempo") and reported plans ("Dijo que llegaría a las diez"). It is common when estimating travel times or explaining delays to a client in a polite, indirect way. "¿A qué hora llegarías?" is a gentle way to ask someone for an arrival time.

Examples

  • Dijo que llegaría antes de las diez.

He said he'd arrive before ten.

  • Si saliéramos ahora, llegaríamos a tiempo.

If we left now, we'd get there on time.

  • Nunca llegaría a ese nivel sin práctica.

I'd never get to that level without practice.
