How to use llegar in the present subjunctive

The present subjunctive of llegar needs gu throughout: llegue, llegues, llegue, lleguemos, lleguen. It appears very often after "cuando" and "en cuanto" for future arrivals: "Llámame cuando llegues." This is one of the first subjunctive patterns learners use, so remember the u to keep the hard g sound. It also follows "hasta que" and "antes de que": "Espera hasta que llegue el jefe."

Call me as soon as you get there.

  • Espero que el pedido llegue esta semana.

  • Empezamos cuando lleguen todos.
