How to use llegar in the preterite

In the preterite, llegar changes g to gu only in the yo form: llegué. The other forms are regular: llegaste, llegó, llegamos, llegaron. Use it for arrivals at a specific moment and for reaching agreements or goals. Note that llegamos is the same in present and preterite, so context or a time word tells you which is meant.
