How to use llegar in the imperfect
The imperfect of llegar is regular: llegaba, llegabas, llegaba, llegábamos, llegaban. Use it for habits ("Siempre llegaba primero") and for background in stories: "Cuando llegaba a la oficina, sonó el teléfono." It also shows up with "a punto de": "El autobús ya llegaba" (the bus was just arriving). Use it too for repeated arrivals, such as deliveries or patients who kept showing up.
