How to use decir in the present subjunctive

The present subjunctive of decir comes from digo: diga, digas, diga, digamos, digan. It appears after requests and wishes ("Quiero que me digas la verdad"), and in phrases like "digamos" (let's say) and "por así decirlo." Spanish uses decir + subjunctive for orders: "Le dije que viniera" reports a command, not a fact.

Examples

  • Quiero que me digas la verdad.

I want you to tell me the truth.

  • Cuando te digan la fecha, avísame.
