How battre conjugates
Battre is close to the regular -re pattern, with one twist: the singular present has only one t. It is je bats, tu bats, il bat, but nous battons, vous battez, ils battent with tt. Every other tense uses batt-: je battais, je battrai, que je batte, battu. Combattre, débattre, abattre and se battre all follow the same pattern.
