Boire conjugation French verb
Boire means to drink, and it is used for coffee, water and alcohol alike. Boire un verre or boire un coup means to grab a drink with someone, which is a common way to suggest an after-work get-together. Compound tenses use avoir: j'ai bu.

How boire conjugates
Boire has three present stems. The singular uses boi-: je bois, tu bois, il boit. Nous and vous use buv-: nous buvons, vous buvez, and that stem also gives the imparfait (je buvais) and the gerund buvant. Ils uses boiv-: ils boivent, and the subjunctive follows the same split (que je boive, que nous buvions). The future is regular on boir-: je boirai. The past participle is bu.
