Aimer conjugation French verb

Aimer means both "to like" and "to love". With people, aimer alone means love, so for "I like him" French says je l'aime bien. The conditional j'aimerais is a polite way to say "I would like". It is a regular -er verb with avoir.

How aimer conjugates

Aimer is regular: j'aime, tu aimes, il aime, nous aimons, vous aimez, ils aiment. Because it starts with a vowel, je becomes j' and you hear a liaison in nous aimons and ils aiment. The future and conditional add endings to the infinitive (j'aimerai, j'aimerais); be careful, because they differ only by the final s. The past participle is aimé (j'ai aimé). Use the definite article after aimer for general likes: j'aime le café.
