How finir conjugates
In the singular present finir looks short: je finis, tu finis, il finit. In the plural, -iss- appears: nous finissons, vous finissez, ils finissent. That -iss- stem carries through the imparfait (je finissais), the present subjunctive (que je finisse) and the gerund finissant. The future adds endings to the full infinitive: je finirai. The past participle is fini. Learn nous finissons and you can build every -iss- form from it.
