How to use suceder in the affirmative commands

Suceder has almost no use in the imperative, because events do not follow orders. The forms exist (sucede, suceda, sucedamos, sucedan), but in real Spanish you will see them as subjunctive inside fixed expressions, especially suceda lo que suceda and que suceda lo que tenga que suceder, let whatever must happen, happen. Treat this page as reference rather than as forms to practice.

Examples

  • Que suceda lo que tenga que suceder.

Let whatever has to happen, happen.

  • Suceda lo que suceda, cuenta conmigo.

Whatever happens, you can count on me.

  • Sucedan los cambios que sucedan, el equipo seguirá unido.

Whatever changes happen, the team will stay united.
