Mourir conjugation French verb
Mourir means "to die" and takes être in compound tenses: il est mort. It is also used in many exaggerated expressions like mourir de faim (to be starving) and mourir d'envie de (to be dying to). Its past participle mort is also the adjective "dead".

How mourir conjugates
Mourir changes its stem vowel: meur- when stressed (je meurs, tu meurs, il meurt, ils meurent) and mour- in nous mourons and vous mourez. The subjunctive follows the same split (que je meure, que nous mourions). The future and conditional have a double r (je mourrai, je mourrais), which distinguishes the conditional from the imparfait je mourais. The past participle is mort, and the participle agrees with the subject: elle est morte.

Mistakes to avoid
- Using avoir in the passé composé: it is il est mort, not il a mouru.
