Arrivare conjugation Italian verb
Arrivare is a regular -are verb that takes essere in compound tenses, so the participle agrees with the subject: è arrivato, è arrivata, sono arrivati. Italians use it for arriving, getting somewhere, and things being delivered (È arrivato il pacco). Arrivarci also means to get it, to understand.

How arrivare conjugates
The forms are fully regular: arrivo, arrivi, arriva, arriviamo, arrivate, arrivano; future arriverò, conditional arriverei, subjunctive arrivi, arrivino, passato remoto arrivai, arrivò, arrivarono. The real work is the auxiliary. Every compound tense uses essere (sono arrivato, ero arrivato, sarò arrivato), and the ending of arrivato changes for gender and number. Use a with cities (arrivare a Roma) and in with countries and most places (arrivare in Italia, in ufficio).

Mistakes to avoid
- Using avere: "Sono arrivato", not "Ho arrivato". And make it agree: "Maria è arrivata."
- Using the wrong preposition: "arrivare a Roma" for cities, "arrivare in Italia" for countries, not "arrivare alla Roma" or "arrivare a Italia".
