How to use usar in the affirmative commands

The commands are regular: usa (tú), use (usted), usemos (nosotros), usen (ustedes). They are everywhere on signs, labels and instructions: Use el pasamanos, Usen la escalera en caso de incendio. Negative commands use the subjunctive: no uses el celular mientras manejas. Pronouns attach with an accent: úsalo con cuidado. The nosotros form usemos is handy in meetings for proposing a tool or a room, and in Latin America use is common on signs about masks, helmets and other protective gear.

  • Usen la escalera en caso de incendio.
