How to use usar in the conditional
The conditional is regular: usaría, usarías, usaría, usaríamos, usarían. It is the standard form for suggestions on wording, tools and style: Yo usaría otra palabra. It also appears in hypotheticals and in questions about preferences: ¿Usarías un coche eléctrico? The tone is softer than a direct correction. In reported speech, it turns a plan into the past: Dijeron que usarían el dinero para la escuela, They said they would use the money for the school.
