How ver conjugates

Ver is irregular in small but important ways. The present yo form is veo, and the others are short: ves, ve, vemos, ven. The imperfect keeps the e: veía, veías, veía, which makes it one of the three irregular imperfects. The preterite has no accents: vi, viste, vio, vimos, vieron. The participle is visto. The present subjunctive is vea. Prever (to foresee) follows the same pattern: preveo, previó, previsto.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Using "ver" for "to look at" with a deliberate gaze: "Mira la pantalla" (look), "Veo la pantalla" (I see it).
  • Writing accents in the preterite: vi and vio have no accent.
  • Writing "veido" for the participle: the correct form is visto.
