How cominciare conjugates
Cominciare follows the regular -are model with the same spelling rule as mangiare: the i after c is only there to keep the sound soft, so it drops before e and i. That gives tu cominci, future comincerò, conditional comincerei and subjunctive cominci, comincino. Before a and o it stays: comincio, comincia, cominciato, cominciò. Use cominciare a + infinitive for starting to do something: "Ho cominciato a studiare."
