How cerrar conjugates

Cerrar changes e to ie when the stress falls on the stem: cierro, cierras, cierra, cierran in the present, and cierre, cierres, cierren in the subjunctive. Nosotros and vosotros keep the e (cerramos, cerremos). The other tenses are regular -ar: cerré, cerraba, cerraré. It is the model for pensar, empezar and many other e→ie verbs.
