Utilizar conjugation Spanish verb
Utilizar means to use, and it sounds a little more formal or technical than usar. You will see it in instructions, manuals, reports and business writing: Utilice solo el cargador original.

How utilizar conjugates
Utilizar is regular in sound, but z becomes c before e. That affects the yo preterite (utilicé) and the whole present subjunctive (utilice, utilices, utilicemos, utilicen), which also supplies the usted, nosotros and ustedes commands. All other forms are regular -ar: utilizo, utilizaba, utilizaré. Because so many instructions use the usted command, utilice is one of the forms you will see most.

Mistakes to avoid
- Writing *utilizé* or *utilize*. Before e, z becomes c: utilicé, utilice.
- Using utilizar everywhere. In casual speech usar is more natural: ¿Usas Instagram? sounds better than ¿Utilizas Instagram?
- Adding para before the object: Utilizo el carro, not *Utilizo para el carro*.
