How to use recordar in the future

The future is regular: recordaré, recordarás, recordará, recordaremos, recordarán. It is common in promises (te lo recordaré mañana) and emotional statements: siempre recordaremos este viaje. In formal messages it states what will happen: le recordaremos su cita un día antes. It can also express a guess: ¿me recordará? Because the stress falls on the ending, there is no ue in the future: recordaré, never recuerdaré. In conversation, voy a recordar is also used, but for reminders people usually say te lo voy a recordar.

Examples

  • Le recordaremos su cita un día antes por mensaje de texto.

We'll remind you of your appointment a day ahead by text message.

  • Siempre recordaré el día que nació mi hija.

I'll always remember the day my daughter was born.

  • Hace años que no la veo; ¿me recordará?

I haven't seen her in years; I wonder if she'll remember me.
