How to use recordar in the conditional

The conditional is regular: recordaría, recordarías, recordaríamos, recordarían. A very useful form is ¿me recordarías...?, a polite way to ask someone to remind you or to tell you something again. It also expresses hypotheses (con una alarma lo recordaría) and reports earlier promises: dijo que me lo recordaría. As in the future, the stress is on the ending, so there is no ue: recordaría, not recuerdaría. Combined with si and the imperfect subjunctive, it builds unreal conditions: si lo escribiera, lo recordaría.

Examples

  • ¿Me recordarías tu correo? Lo perdí.

Could you give me your email again? I lost it.

  • Con una alarma en el celular, recordaría tomar la pastilla.

With an alarm on my phone, I'd remember to take the pill.

  • Me prometió que me lo recordaría, pero se le olvidó.

He promised he'd remind me, but he forgot.
