How repetir conjugates

Repetir changes the second e of the stem to i when the stress falls on it: repito, repites, repite, repiten in the present, and in all present subjunctive forms (repita, repitamos). In the preterite only the third person forms change (repitió, repitieron), and so does the imperfect subjunctive (repitiera) and the gerund (repitiendo). Nosotros and vosotros in the present keep the e: repetimos, repetís. It follows the same pattern as pedir and servir.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Applying the change to nosotros in the present: repetimos, not *repitimos*.
