How to use trabajar in the future

The future is regular and built on the whole infinitive: trabajaré, trabajarás, trabajará, trabajaremos. It suits firm plans in a formal tone (el equipo trabajará en dos turnos) and predictions. In everyday speech, voy a trabajar is just as common for plans. It can also express a guess about the present: ¿dónde trabajará ahora? means 'I wonder where she works now'.

Examples

  • A partir de enero trabajaremos con un nuevo sistema de facturación.

Starting in January we'll be working with a new billing system.

  • ¿Trabajarás el día festivo o te lo dan libre?

Will you work on the holiday, or do they give you the day off?

  • No la he visto en años; ¿dónde trabajará ahora?

I haven't seen her in years; I wonder where she works now.
