How to use descubrir in the imperfect
The imperfect is regular: descubría, descubrías, descubría, descubríamos, descubrían. Use it for repeated discoveries or ongoing processes in the past: Cada viaje descubríamos un pueblo nuevo. Because finding out is usually a single event, the preterite is more common, and the imperfect gives the sense of discovering bit by bit or again and again.
