Entender conjugation Spanish verb
Entender means to understand words, instructions, people or how something works. It is the everyday verb in conversation (no entiendo, ¿me entiendes?), more common than comprender in speech. Entender de means to know about a subject (entiende mucho de vinos), and entenderse con alguien means to get along with someone.

How entender conjugates
Entender is an e→ie stem-changing -er verb, like perder. The stressed e becomes ie in the present (entiendo, entiendes, entiende, entienden), the present subjunctive (entienda) and the tú command (entiende), while entendemos stays regular. All other tenses are regular: entendí, entendía, entenderé, entendido. The forms to learn first are entiendo and no entiendo.

Mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting the stem change: say entiendo, not entendo.
- Adding ie where it does not belong: it is entendemos and entendí, not entiendemos or entiendí.
- Saying no entiendo when you simply didn't hear: if you missed the words, say ¿Perdón? or No te escuché.
