Entender in the preterite: entendí, entendiste, entendió, entendimos, entendisteis, entendieron.

How to use entender in the preterite
The preterite is regular, with no stem change: entendí, entendiste, entendió, entendimos, entendieron. Use it for the moment you understood something or to check whether a specific message got through: ¿entendiste? (did you get it?). Entendí que... can also mean 'I took it that...': entendí que la reunión era mañana. Note the accents on entendí and entendió. No entendí is the polite way to say you did not catch the meaning.

Entendí que la reunión era el jueves, no el martes.
I understood the meeting was on Thursday, not Tuesday.
¿Entendieron las instrucciones del médico?
Did you understand the doctor's instructions?
Por fin entendió por qué estaba enojada.
He finally understood why she was angry.
