How to use entender in the conditional
The conditional (entendería, entenderías, entenderíamos) is regular. It is common in empathetic statements: entendería que no quisieras venir (I'd understand if you didn't want to come). It also appears in reported speech (pensé que lo entenderías) and, with si and the imperfect subjunctive, in unreal conditions: si leyeras el contrato, entenderías el problema. Yo entendería, used alone, is a quick way to show empathy.

Entendería perfectamente que no pudieras venir.
I'd completely understand if you couldn't come.
Pensé que el equipo entendería la decisión.
