How pensar conjugates

Pensar is the model e→ie stem-changing verb. The e of the stem becomes ie whenever it is stressed: pienso, piensas, piensa, piensan, and in the subjunctive piense. Nosotros keeps the e: pensamos, pensemos. The preterite, imperfect, future and conditional are completely regular: pensé, pensaba, pensaré, pensaría. Empezar, cerrar and entender follow the same pattern.
