How to use buscar in the imperfect
The imperfect of buscar is regular: buscaba, buscabas, buscaba, buscábamos, buscaban. Use it for ongoing searches in the past: "Buscaba trabajo cuando me llamaron." It also appears as a polite opener in shops and offices: "Buscaba a la señora Pérez" (I'm looking for Mrs. Pérez), which sounds softer than the present.
