How to use conducir in the conditional

The conditional is regular: conduciría, conducirías, conduciría, conduciríamos, conducirían. Use it for safety advice (Yo no conduciría así) and for hypotheses about consequences: Eso conduciría a más retrasos. It also appears in reported speech and polite offers: Dijo que conduciría él. Like the future, the conditional has no zc or j: the endings attach to the infinitive.

Examples

  • Eso conduciría a más retrasos en la obra.

That would lead to more delays on the construction project.

  • Dijo que conduciría él para que yo pudiera descansar.

He said he'd drive so I could rest.

  • Yo no conduciría después de tomar esa medicina.

I wouldn't drive after taking that medication.
