How to use empezar in the present subjunctive
The present subjunctive of empezar has both changes: empiece, empieces, empiece, empecemos, empiecen. Note that the z becomes c before e in every form, and nosotros keeps the e. It appears after "antes de que" ("antes de que empiece la reunión"), "cuando" and requests. The usted command empiece and "empecemos" (let's start) come from here.
Examples
Llega antes de que empiece la reunión.
Get there before the meeting starts.
Cuando empieces, avísame para conectar la cámara.
When you start, let me know so I can turn on the camera.
Es mejor que empecemos temprano.
It's better if we start early.
