How to use encontrar in the preterite
The preterite of encontrar is regular: encontré, encontraste, encontró, encontramos, encontraron. There is no stem change. Use it for finding something at a specific moment and for meeting someone: "Me encontré con Ana en el súper" (I ran into Ana at the supermarket). "Lo encontré" means "I found it." Remember that encontramos is the same in present and preterite.
