Escuchar conjugation Spanish verb
Escuchar means to listen to, and the to is already built in: Escucho música, not escucho a música (unless the object is a person). In much of Latin America it also covers to hear, especially on the phone: No te escucho bien.

How escuchar conjugates
Escuchar is a regular -ar verb in every tense: escucho, escuchas, escucha in the present, escuché, escuchó in the preterite, escuchaba in the imperfect. There are no stem or spelling changes. Use the personal a when the object is a person (Escucha a tu madre), and nothing at all before things (Escucha esta canción). Compare it with oír, which is more about perceiving sound.

Mistakes to avoid
- Adding a before things: Escucho la radio, not *Escucho a la radio*.
- Leaving out the personal a before people: Escucha a tu jefe.
- Translating listen to with para: *escuchar para* is wrong.
