How to use haber in the present
The present of haber has two sets of uses. As an auxiliary: he, has, ha, hemos, han, followed by a past participle (he comido, han llegado). As "there is/there are," it uses the unique form hay for both singular and plural. "Hay que" plus an infinitive gives a general obligation: "Hay que firmar aquí." Both uses are extremely common from the first weeks of learning.
