Ser in the present: soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son.

How to use ser in the present
The present of ser is fully irregular: soy, eres, es, somos, son (and sois for vosotros). Use it for identity, jobs, nationality, physical description, personality, time and dates, and where an event takes place. "Es la una" and "son las tres" show that the hour takes es for one o'clock and son for the rest. You will hear "es que" constantly in conversation as a way to start an explanation.

Somos un equipo pequeño, pero muy eficiente.
We're a small but very efficient team.
¿De dónde eres?
Where are you from?
Son las tres y todavía no llega el técnico.
It's three o'clock and the technician still hasn't shown up.
