How to use mantener in the affirmative commands
The tú command is mantén, with a written accent, while usted is mantenga and ustedes mantengan. Mantenga su distancia and manténgase a la derecha are common on signs and in announcements. Negative commands use the subjunctive: no mantengas el carro encendido. With a pronoun attached, the tú form loses its accent (mantenlo), while usted and ustedes gain one (manténgalo, manténganse).
