How to use mantener in the conditional
The conditional also uses mantendr-: mantendría, mantendrías, mantendríamos, mantendrían. Use it for hypotheticals (yo mantendría el plan original), advice and reported promises: dijo que mantendría su oferta. Writing mantenería is a common mistake that comes from treating the verb as regular, so think of tendría whenever you need this tense. With si and the imperfect subjunctive, it describes unreal situations.

I'd stick with the original plan; it works well.
El banco dijo que mantendría la tasa por un año.
The bank said it would keep the rate for a year.
Con mejores sueldos, mantendríamos al personal con experiencia.
