How to use mostrar in the imperfect
The imperfect is regular: mostraba, mostrabas, mostraba, mostrábamos, mostraban. Use it for background description and habits: La pantalla mostraba un error. It is also common for describing attitudes over time: El cliente no mostraba interés. It contrasts with the preterite, which reports a single act of showing. In technical reports and incident descriptions, it describes what a screen, gauge or chart was showing when something happened.
