How to use salir in the conditional

The conditional of salir uses the same stem as the future: saldría, saldrías, saldría, saldríamos, saldrían. It is useful for hypotheticals and estimates: "Saldría más barato comprarlo en línea." "Salir caro/barato" means "to end up expensive/cheap," a very common use in business decisions. It also reports earlier plans: "Dijo que saldría a las ocho." In polite suggestions, "¿Te saldría mejor otro día?" asks if another day would work better for someone.

Examples

  • Saldría más barato contratar a un proveedor local.

It would be cheaper to hire a local supplier.

  • Si no lloviera, saldríamos a caminar.
