How to use conseguir in the conditional

The conditional is regular: conseguiría, conseguirías, conseguiríamos, conseguirían. Use it for hypotheticals (con más tiempo lo conseguiría), for asking about possibilities (¿dónde conseguiría uno...?) and in reported speech: dijo que conseguiría los boletos. It often pairs with si and the imperfect subjunctive. Like the future, the conditional keeps the e of the infinitive, so it is conseguiría, not consiguiría. In job and sales talk, it is useful for discussing what a strategy would achieve: con más presupuesto conseguiríamos mejores resultados.

Examples

  • Si hablaras inglés, conseguirías un mejor puesto.

If you spoke English, you'd get a better position.

  • ¿Dónde conseguiría uno repuestos para esta máquina?

Where would someone get spare parts for this machine?

  • Mi primo dijo que conseguiría los boletos.

My cousin said he'd get the tickets.
