How to use permitir in the conditional
The conditional is regular: permitiría, permitirías, permitiríamos, permitirían. Use it for hypothetical benefits (este cambio nos permitiría crecer), polite requests (¿me permitiría hacer una pregunta?) and reported speech. ¿Me permitiría...? is especially courteous and works well with clients, patients and people you do not know. It is also used to describe what a different budget, tool or schedule would make possible, which is common in proposals: esta inversión nos permitiría crecer un veinte por ciento. As in the future, the endings attach to the full infinitive.
