How to use presentar in the conditional

The conditional is regular: presentaría, presentarías, presentaríamos, presentarían. Use it for advice on structure (yo presentaría primero el problema), hypotheticals and reported plans: dijo que presentaría la renuncia. It is useful for discussing with colleagues how to organize a pitch or a report. With si and the imperfect subjunctive, it describes unreal situations, and in polite requests ¿me presentarías a tu jefe? sounds softer than the present.

Examples

  • Yo presentaría primero el problema y luego la solución.

I'd present the problem first and then the solution.

  • Dijo que presentaría su renuncia si no cambiaban las cosas.

He said he'd hand in his resignation if things didn't change.

  • Si me lo pidieran, presentaría el proyecto en inglés.

If they asked me, I'd present the project in English.
