How to use resultar in the conditional

The conditional is regular: resultaría, resultarían. It is ideal for comparing options and estimating outcomes: resultaría más barato rentar. It also softens opinions in formal settings: me resultaría difícil aceptar esas condiciones means 'I'd find it hard to accept those terms'. You will see it often in budgets, proposals and negotiations. The endings attach to the full infinitive, with no changes.

Examples

  • Resultaría más barato rentar que comprar.

It would work out cheaper to rent than to buy.

  • Me resultaría difícil aceptar esas condiciones.

I'd find it hard to accept those terms.

  • Según el arquitecto, la ampliación resultaría demasiado cara.

According to the architect, the extension would be too expensive.
