Escribir conjugation Spanish verb
Escribir means to write: emails, reports, books, text messages. The person you write to is introduced with a (le escribí a la doctora), and the topic with sobre or acerca de. Escribirse means to write to each other, and ¿cómo se escribe? is the everyday way to ask how something is spelled.

How escribir conjugates
Escribir is a regular -ir verb in all simple tenses: escribo, escribí, escribía, escribiré. Its one irregularity is the past participle escrito, which appears in every compound tense (he escrito, había escrito) and as an adjective (un examen escrito). Describir, inscribir and suscribir work the same way: descrito, inscrito, suscrito.

Mistakes to avoid
- Making the participle regular: escribido does not exist. Say He escrito tres correos, not He escribido.
- Dropping the a before the person: say Le escribí a mi jefe, not Escribí mi jefe.
- Adding accents where there are none: escribo and escribe have no written accent; it only appears when pronouns attach, as in escríbeme.
