How to use escribir in the preterite
The preterite of escribir is regular: escribí, escribiste, escribió, escribimos, escribieron. Use it for a finished act of writing (escribí el correo anoche) or a completed work: García Márquez escribió Cien años de soledad. Remember the written accents on escribí and escribió, and note that there is no stem change of any kind in this tense. With a person, add the indirect object pronoun: le escribí, les escribimos.

Anoche le escribí a Laura para felicitarla.
Last night I wrote to Laura to congratulate her.
¿Quién escribió el acta de la reunión?
Who took the minutes of the meeting?
Escribimos el informe en dos días y lo enviamos el viernes.
We wrote the report in two days and sent it on Friday.
